Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Why it is on our lists

Code Geass is melodrama with a chessboard, a giant robot anime with the appetite of a political thriller. Lelouch is brilliant, theatrical, and deeply compromised; the pleasure comes from watching his plans work, fail, and expose the human cost of treating people like pieces.
